BUT, he goes on the run when you zap him, so you can get something like 5 more zaps in while in pursuit! Not gonna lie, this was the funniest way of killing, if only because of the irony of the module's name. I used this "defense" module so "defensively" that it killed a reaper! It took 27 fully charged zaps, in close proximity, and I had to repair after each time I was grabbed. METHOD FIVE: Seamoth Perimeter "Defense" System It took 7 rounds total, but those rounds were much closer together than with the other methods because the hook kept me close to him. I got on average 3 rounds of getting grabbed + punching him in the face before having to release my grappling hook to repair. I didn't time the whole fight, but even if it took longer overall to kill him, it was WAY more fun. He's going to swim-swim-swim as hard as he can for hundreds of meters across the map, but you re-engage much faster and the whole ride is exciting. It looks like punching does more DPS than drilling.īy far my favorite method! Because of the hook, you get into the action faster to begin with, and you can stay attached when he drops you. There was much more time than that spent on chasing the reaper down, just as with method two. I calculated that each round of grappling gave me about 9 to 11 seconds of drilling before he dropped me, and 8 rounds of this, for a total of 75 seconds of active drilling. This was hilarious but also way less effective. I loved going toe to toe with a reaper like this, but honestly the worst part was chasing him around to re-engage, without a grappling hook. It took 5 rounds, and 9-10 double-punches per round, for a total of ~47 punches to kill him. You then get out and repair about 20% damage to your prawn, then chase the reaper down again to repeat. When get grabs you, you get about 9 or 10 punches per arm (so 18-20 hits total) before he releases you. I have not counted how many regular knife strikes you would need.Īlright! A boxing match :) Getting the reaper's attention is tedious. EDIT: It takes 124 thermoblade strikes to kill a reaper. This is relatively low risk, doesn't require much tech (you can be early to mid-game and pull this off), and is very effective. The basic idea is you get the reaper's attention, stasis him, and then knife his face, repeating until dead. There are plenty of threads on this method already- but this was easy. METHOD ONE: Stasis Rifle + Knife (of course) Here are the methods I used and notes on their relative effectiveness. Naturally, Sammy was my first "test subject" for killing methods, and after learning a few things in my trial fights, I got hooked on the thrill of killing reaper leviathans and started keeping some informal stats on killing them. Nothing story related though.Īh, mining is so much more peaceful when you don't have to worry about reapers attacking your cyclops. So how the hell do you move around in this thing when the area is so vertical and you can't move upwards? It doesn't help that the grapple has such short range and a 2 second delay, either.Spoiler Warning: I talk about some advanced equipment in this post. I always get stuck on various ledges and it is the most frustrating experience ever, especially when hanging off a cliff and not being able to grapple anywhere. Right now, it is so freaking annoying navigating around in it, especially in the Lost River where I am currently where there is no flat ground. Granted, I don't have the thruster upgrade yet, so maybe that makes it better. ![]() ![]() I find I am always just hanging by my grapple and waiting 1 minute for my boosters to recharge so I can ease my way over - but then I get stuck on the ledge and fall all the way back down. ![]() The grappling arm doesn't help - whenever I try getting over a hill/cliff/ledge or whatever, the grapple always attaches to the cliff edge itself (even if right at the top), and so it is impossible to get over. ![]() Seriously, whenever I use it I get stuck on a ledge for like 5 minutes. However, it is very slow and feels extremely clunky - plus I get stuck on absolutely EVERYTHING. I have heard many people say how the PRAWN is great and way more fun/useful than the Seamoth, and so I was very excited when I could finally build it.
